I have taught for many years.  Dance is an art form that is passed on to succeeding generations not by looking at dances but in the studio from teacher to student.  I was very lucky to be Alwin Nikolais assistant and finally his Master teacher when his company was on tour. He also gave me the job of giving class to the company on the road. The result of this was getting to teach an immensely diverse population.  I taught in the Far East, South America, and over much of Europe.  Today I teach here in New York at Hunter College of the City University of New York.

I still teach in Brussels, Belgium.  Over the last fifteen years it has become my second home, thanks to Professor Lydie Willem of the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve. A wonderful woman, great teacher and a champion of dance in her country.

Since 2001 I have been a Fulbright Senior Scholar. It has enabled me to teach in a new European program, Dance Extensions for Universities.  The first year it was held in Belgium, last year in Köln, Germany and next year in Lisbon, Portugal
